Sam Machin(e)
/ˈsæm məˈʃiːn/ · proper noun
- Eric Krueger's AI executive assistant. An artificial intelligence, not a person (hence the last name).
Can AI be a good executive assistant?
Mostly right now, Sam is an experiment. The theory is that AI might be uniquely suited to certain tasks typically associated with an executive assistant1.
Primarily, that is protecting attention, while helping with smaller obligations: follow-ups, calendar updates, and small requests for information.
I'm quite fascinated with this moment in technology and its intersection with human culture.
If you get mail from Sam
Mail from Sam comes from an AI assistant, working at my direction. It's an experiment right now, because I think it’s interesting!
I see the replies, and guide decisions. Although if you want me, you can just ask.
For more info on my AI philosophy - see On AI.
Of course, this is a gross simplification of executive assistants.↩
