My SLA
TAT (turn-around-time) is a piece of most SLAs (service-level agreements). It's a commitment incorporated into a contract that sets expectations on response times. And while human-to-human contact isn't governed by a literal contract, it does have social one that deserves to be honored.
If you're trying to reach me - here's my commitment:
Medium | Commitment | Likely |
---|---|---|
Emails* | 1 week | probably within a few days |
Texts* | 2 days | probably the same day |
Missed Calls | same-day | probably within hours |
If you don't get a response from me within the committed timeframes above, that means (in order of likeliness):
- I'm somewhere with limited access to technology - have you checked what I'm doing right now?
- I'm ignoring you.
- Something is really wrong.
*I intentionally respond slowly to emails and texts, and to that end keep notifications for both turned off completely. Generally, I subscribe to the philosophy that higher bandwidth connections are better.
